Matthew's birth! . Sarasota Birth Photographer

This birth was such a God thing.  I thank Jesus for this experience!
I was so determined to make it to this birth, after having missed the last 2 birth's I tried to photograph, for different reasons.
At 1am I got the cheerful call from in-labor-Amy, it's was time to go!  I made it to their house around 2am had a cup of coffee and started watching the journey of Matthews birth.
Baby Matthew was born at 7:46am.  What a miracle!

Warning:  There are a few rather graphic photos in this post.  It's a beautiful birth, but if you have a weak stomach, I want to warn you that there was a healthy amount of blood in this birth.

Amy liked the half walls around the house to lean on during contractions...

John got tired.  What you can't see is myself, the midwife and birth assistant on the floor sleeping too.

The comb in her hands served as a coping tool.  She held onto that for several hours during labor.

Almost 5am, John says, "ok, I'm ready to hold my baby boy now."  Still making mommy laugh.

Transition moved labor into the bathroom.  Which I appreciated because there was more light in there.  =)

You could see her labor was changing, not as many smiles at this point.  Which is a good sign that she was nearing the end.

One thing I love about home births is the freedom to do what feels right.  Some people want to lay on the bed, some people want to squat next to the tub!

Amy's water never broke.  This was something the mid-wife had never seen before (outside of a birthing tub).  Pretty cool to photograph something so rare!

Matthew's cord was in a DOUBLE KNOT!  But it didnt effect him at all during birth.

Amy & John were such a sweet couple.  I was so honored to be with them and get to witness all the love in their home...

  4. What beautiful pictures! My water never broke either with my 4th baby. The nurses kept telling me there was no way the baby could be coming out because my bag of waters was still intact. Surprise!
